eBay says Alhan Gençay collab is "ultimate clash of sneakers and gaming"

It’s being billed as “the ultimate clash of sneakers and gaming, so prepare for eBay collaborations with Alhan Gençay.

For the unfamiliar, Gençay is a UK presenter, gamer, and entrepreneur and the special collab with the online retail giant begins with the first of its ‘In Session With’ series this year to “spotlight the diverse passions within the UK’s thriving sneaker community”. 

On 11 June, the pair will host an IRL gaming “clash” at BRIX London to “unite the shared passions of the sneaker and gaming communities”. Attendees will compete against Alhan to win rare and exclusive sneakers from the eBay Authenticity Guarantee service.

"Birthed" from Gençay’s own passion for “collecting, levelling up and the thrill of the win”, this collab will see Alhan and eBay host the “ultimate sneakers and gaming clash, to celebrate these overlapping worlds”. 

eBay said: “The affinity between sneakers and gaming is undeniable” and has sparked many collaborations over the years, including Nike’s partnership with Playstation, Puma’s collaboration with Tetris and Adidas’s launch with Xbox. 

eBay added that it has witnessed many of these coveted models sought on the marketplace, “driving searches for ‘Nike Air Force Playstation’ to increase by 100%, ‘Nike Playstation’ by over 45%, and ‘Puma Tetris’by 30% in the fourth quarter of 2023 compared to the third quarter of 2023.

Gençay also explained: “Sneakers and gaming are my two serious passions. Whenever I want some of those super rare bits from both worlds, eBay is my go-to. So this felt like the perfect partnership for me. Not only that, I've got an opportunity to give back to my community, and giving back to the fans is one of the main reason why I love doing this job.”
