In February, Frasers Group announced a commitment “to elevating its board and its confidence in its long-term growth strategy”. Fast forward to 3 June and the company has appointed heavy hitter Sir Jon Thompson as a Non-Executive Director on its board.

Sir Jon is the former CEO of the Financial Reporting Council with previous roles including Chair of HS2, CEO of HMRC, and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, where he “oversaw major projects and drove significant change programmes”.

While “bring[ing] deep expertise in corporate governance, reporting and audit, and experience in large-scale project management… he will… continue to position the Group as a leading international business”, Frasers said on his appointment.

Frasers Group chair David Daly added:  “I know that we will benefit from his vast experience and leadership which will continue to enable the future success of the Elevation Strategy.”

CEO Michael Murray also said: ”His appointment reflects the progress we have made to date on Frasers' transformation and Elevation Strategy, as well as our ambitions for the future. Sir Jon's expertise in corporate governance and major project management will be invaluable as we enter the next phase of our strategy.”
