In the run-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the International Fashion Academy (IFA Paris) is organising a sustainable fashion marathon on June 8 and 9 as part of the Cultural Olympiad movement.

The idea of this creative weekend is to promote responsible fashion. To achieve this, students from the IFA and the Estah fashion school (part of the EDH group) will be divided into ten groups of four to six people.
Gone are the race numbers. For this revisited marathon, the 42 kilometres (official distance) will be converted into 42 hours. In this limited time, they will have to design collections from dormant stocks of sports equipment from Akka Sports or unsold items donated by the Fédération de la mode circulaire and Emmaüs.
The designs will also have to be adapted for models with disabilities, who will wear the pieces during the fashion show that closes the event at 5pm on Sunday.
"The Sustainable Fashion Marathon is much more than just a fashion show. It is a celebration of innovation, creativity and commitment to a more environmentally friendly way of life," says the IFA in its press release.
At the same time, virtual reality and trainer renovation and customisation workshops will be held. An exhibition will also be held to showcase alumni collections.
Over the course of the two days, the IFA will be bringing together industry professionals to host round tables. The first will open on Saturday at 11am with the theme "Fashion and sport: the streetwear trend," presented by Elie Dahan-Lamort, head of advocacy and community at the Fédération de la mode circulaire, and Jean Baptiste Andreani, director of the IFA Paris campus. The second will focus on the theme of "Technology and ecology, the future." Sunday will end with a discussion led by Fashion Jobs speakers Adile Cretallaz, Director of the IFA Paris school in Istanbul, and Julie Ejzenberg, in charge of corporate relations at Mode Estah, on fashion careers.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the Hôtel Mona Bismarck, 34 avenue de New-York (16th arrondissement).
