Swedish technology platform Voyado has promoted its CFO/EVP of Strategy, Erica Sandelin Ekelund, to take up the role of CEO, replacing Per Åkerberg on 1 June.

Ekelund “will now lead the company's push for growth in the UK, a market where it has already enjoyed enormous success in 2024 and identifies as a key growth target,” it said. Voyado has recently helped luxury brands such as Brora and Belstaff enhance their purchasing journey for customers.

Åkerberg has been CEO of Voyado since 2022, when he left his position as Chairman to become more operational within the company. He will now return to the board “to continue his position in advising on the growth ambitions of the business”.

Ekelund joined Voyado in 2017, securing an investment from Novax which “helped propel” Voyado's growth in retail and software. She was appointed CFO in 2019 and has taken responsibility for establishing its growth strategy, which included the acquisitions of Apptus and ReDeal.

Åkerberg said of her appointment: "I can think of no one better to take the reins of Voyado as we move ahead with our ambitious plans. The last few years, we have enjoyed enormous success with the business developing and evolving at a fast pace, and we're not slowing down. The next few years are all about our continued expansion in international markets and securing strong partnerships with brands and retailers. Erica is the best person to help us realise our strategy and identify even more growth opportunities.”

He said Voyado has grown by 35% since 2020 and has maintained this growth while also focusing on expanding profitability. Voyado posted a profit in April and, under Ekelund’s leadership, “is expected to achieve a positive full-year result in 2024”.
