Wanna launches virtual try-on for bags

Virtual try-on (VTO) specialist Wanna has announced an interesting new tech development with the launch of VTO for bags.

Wanna

The company is a major provider of immersive augmented reality and VTO tech for the luxury sector and its new bags solution aims to allow customers to “interact with the bag before making a purchase, try it on virtually, pair it with the outfits and assess the fit anywhere and any time”.

It’s certainly an intriguing idea given that VTO is usually focused more on items that fit closely on the body and may have fit issues depending on a person’s size.

So what's the company’s thinking behind the new development? It said that with the vast range of bag options available, “it can be difficult to truly evaluate a bag when shopping online”.

It's technology “helps to bridge this gap by providing a dynamic digital experience, enabling customers to make more informed purchase decisions”.

Given very high prices for luxury bags, it could be an important development in helping to replicate the in-store experience. And as recent struggles by luxury online retailers have proved, getting the e-shopping experience to be as close to the in-store one as possible is crucial.

The company said that the tech has been designed with diverse user scenarios in mind and works using both the front and rear cameras on a smart phone. It has been heavily tested.

It's available for luxury brands without dedicated mobile applications and can be integrated into any website, we’re told.

Additionally, its AR experiences come with shareable links suitable for integration into marking campaigns, newsletters, and social media.

At the moment, the experience is available for crossbody bags only with more styles coming later this year.
